Maxtrax
MAXTRAX started in Queensland after founder Brad McCarthy almost lost his 4WD to an incoming tide. He wanted a tool that made recovery fast and safe for one person. His idea led to the first MAXTRAX boards in 2004. The design used strong shapes inspired by egg cartons and corrugated iron. This gave the boards light weight and high strength in sand and mud.
MAXTRAX boards are made in Australia. Each board uses tough nylon that handles heat and heavy load. The teeth grip the tyre and keep the vehicle moving forward. This removes the need for winching or towing in most bogging cases. The system is simple. Place the boards under the tyres and drive out. One person can do the whole job.
MAXTRAX grew quickly after the launch and the MKII won global awards, becoming a trusted tool for 4WD trainers, rescue crew and off road tour operators. The boards are now used by emergency teams, mining crews, remote workers and travellers in harsh terrain worldwide. MAXTRAX is also a recommended product of the International 4WD Trainers Association.
We stock a large MAXTRAX recovery range at Outback Equipment. This includes recovery boards in popular colours as well as mounts, pins and storage gear that help you pack the boards tight on a roof rack or tray and keep them ready for use on every trip.
