Choosing The Right Size Tent

Choosing the right size tent is perhaps one of the most important factors of a sucessful camping trip (that and not forgetting the beer). However often people are understandably confused when we tell them that a 4 person tent isn't suitable for 4 people. The rating of a camping tent is the maxmimum amount of adults you can physically fit in a tent - unless you enjoy sleeping touching one or more other people the whole night you won't enjoy sleeping in a camping tent at it's max capacity!

You also need to consider the amount of camping gear you'll need to store inside your tent - cramming 4 people and all of their luggage into a 4 person tent will be a nightmare. 

As a rough guide, we recommend you purchase a tent rated for at least twice the amount of people you intend to sleep in it so for:

The above guide should be considered an absolute minimum to ensure you and your camping gear fit comfortably. The other option is to purchase a smaller tent in addition to one or more swag tents if you don't want the hassle of transporting and setting up a large family tent.
