LED Reverse Lights
Shop LED reversing lights for utes, trays, trailers and trucks, with fast delivery Australia-wide.
Factory reverse lights are built to be legal, (which doesn't always mean useful). Our range covers 9 to 33V multivolt LED reverse lamps in round, rectangular, slimline and surface-mount housings, 12V and 24V sealed kits and 600 lumen work/reverse floods rated to 64V, from Narva, LED Autolamps, Ignite and JW Speaker.
Choosing a reverse lamp
Decide whether you are replacing or adding. A replacement reverse light matches the stop/tail lamp next to it, so pick the white lamp from the same series, for example a Narva Model 43 reverse to sit beside a Model 43 stop/tail. Several series offer a horizontal and a vertical mounting version, which sets which way the lens pattern throws light, so check the orientation of the cut-out.
An additional reverse light is about seeing the trailer coupling or the track behind you at night. That is a job for a flood-beam work/reverse lamp, such as the Narva 600 lumen units rated 9 to 33V or 9 to 64V, mounted under the tray or on the rear bar. A wide flood beam lights the ground close behind the vehicle. A spot beam lights the paddock and leaves the towball dark.
Fitting and compliance
- White only, and only in reverse. A reverse lamp must come on with reverse gear and go off when you select anything else.
- Wire extra lamps through a relay triggered by the reverse circuit. The reverse switch on the gearbox is not rated to carry a pair of 24W floods.
- Add a separate switch if you want the floods on while hitching up in park. Wired that way they are work lamps and should not be used on the road.
- Angle floods down. Light hitting the ground behind the vehicle is useful. Light hitting the tailgater's windscreen is a fine.
- Multivolt matters on trucks. A 12V-only lamp on 24V lasts seconds.
What else you might need
Stop and tail lights: the matching red lamp from the same series.
LED work lamps: higher output floods for a tray or camp setup, wired to a switch rather than the reverse circuit.
Wiring kits: a relay, fuse and loom for additional reverse floods.
Globes: BA15S, T20 and W21W LED reverse globes if the factory housing stays and only the globe changes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add extra reverse lights to my ute?
Yes. Additional reversing lamps are allowed if they are white, point rearward and only operate in reverse. Wire them through a relay off the factory reverse circuit and keep them aimed at the ground.
What is the difference between a reverse lamp and a work lamp?
A reverse lamp is wired to the reverse circuit and is a road-legal signal. A work lamp is on a switch and is for a stationary vehicle. The 600 lumen flood lamps here are sold as both, and the wiring decides which one it is.
Which reverse lamp matches my tail lights?
Stay in the same series. Narva Models 39, 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, 46 and 48 and the LED Autolamps ranges all have a white reverse version of their red stop/tail lamp, in the same size and mount.
Will a 12V reverse light work on a 24V truck?
Only if it is rated 9 to 33V or higher*. The multivolt lamps here run on both. The sealed kits come in separate 12V and 24V versions, so check the name.
