What is a caravan tunnel boot door?
A tunnel boot door covers a large storage space that runs through the front or back of your van. This area is called a “tunnel boot” and is used for long or bulky items like tables, ramps, hoses, or fishing rods. The door itself is wider and sits low on the body, often near the A-frame. Most tunnel boot doors are lockable and weather-sealed to protect your gear.
How do I pick the right caravan boot door size?
Start by measuring your current door's cut-out size, that’s the hole in the wall, not the outer frame. Measure the width and height from inside edge to inside edge.
You can also match the model code if replacing an old Coast to Coast or Thetford door. For example, a Door 3 or M500-240 refers to a specific size and shape. These codes are printed on the inside panel or frame of many factory-installed doors. Still unsure? Call us at 1300 854 185 or your caravan brand for the best fit.
What’s the difference between service doors and boot doors?
Service doors are smaller and give you access to things like power plugs, water tanks, or toilet cassettes. Boot doors are larger and used for full storage compartments. You’ll find boot doors on tunnel storage spaces and rear luggage areas. Both types come sealed and lockable, but they serve different parts of your caravan.
