DO35 Coupling

As a result of our continuous product improvement policy, we are delighted to showcase our newest product offering: the HITCHMASTER® DO35 V3 Coupling with integrated handbrake. Many of the team at Vehicle Components thought that the DO35 version 2 (DO35v2) was hard to beat, but once again, the engineering team has proven why they are the best in the business. The new DO35 Version 3 (DO35v3) is the strongest coupling we have ever made; it even bent our test rig! As caravans get heavier and weight distribution systems more widespread, we went back to basics to produce the DO35v3 that can handle it all.

Forged steel, high quality polyurethane, laser-cut stainless steel, and precision casting have been brought together to increase the coupling's strength while also reducing weight. This updated DO35 is over 50% stronger than the outgoing model. These advanced processes have also allowed the elimination of hitch adaptors*, allowing you to get on the road with less fuss. A challenging RAT Run to Cape York has shown that the new DO35v3 coupling can handle all that you can throw at it, but at its core, it still retains the simple drop-on attachment method loved by travellers Australia-wide.

What is the towing capacity of this DO35 Coupling?

The product is ADR rated to 3500kg (7714lb) for use in Australia and SAE J684 rated to Class 4 trailers for use in North America. This ensures compatibility with a wide range of towing applications within specified weight limits.

Can the DO35 Coupling be used with weight distribution hitches?

Yes, the product can be used with weight distribution hitches, provided that the coupling movement is not obstructed, and the maximum downward load of 350kg (772lb) is not exceeded. Users are advised to check clearance to ensure the trailer drawbar does not foul, particularly during tight reversing situations.

What maintenance is required for the DO35 Coupling?

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Recommendations include keeping the tow pin and universal mating surfaces clean and lightly greased, checking the condition of the tow pin O-ring, lubricating grease points, and conducting periodic adjustments of the slotted nut & pin if necessary. A thorough maintenance check is recommended every 10,000 km or 12 months for sustained performance.
