Footwell Water Tank

Having a steady supply of water makes every trip easier. The Tuff Terrain 40L poly footwell water tank gives you fresh water for general purpose use without taking up valuable storage space.

It’s designed to fit neatly in the rear passenger section, with a central recess that sits over the raised section found in most modern 4WD footwells. This shape allows the tank to sit flat while making practical use of space that would otherwise go unused. With 40 litres on hand, you’ll have plenty for washing up, cleaning gear, and keeping your campsite organised.

The tank is made from durable polyethylene and includes two ½" BSP brass outlets for connecting a hose or pump. When full, it adds about 40kg of low‑down weight across the rear passenger floor.

Product features:

  • Dimensions: 1200mm wide x 190mm high (30mm for cap) & 250mm Deep.
  • The transmission tunnel recess is 420mm wide at the base tapering to 200mm wide at top of recess and is 110mm high.
  • The cut-out for centre consoles is 200mm wide and 60mm deep. Two Brass outlets are fitted (one at each end) and uses 1/2" BSPF (fittings not included) thread to allow normal hardware plumbing fittings to be used for custom hose or pump kits. A matching hose kit is available

Will this footwell water tank fit my vehicle?

This 40 litre water tank is made to fit most 4WDs. It sits in the footwell behind the front seats, keeping water handy without taking up space. The transmission tunnel recess and centre console cut-out help it fit snug in many models. It’s best to check the dimensions against your vehicle’s floor before buying.

Can I install a pump with this water tank?

Yes. The tank has two 1/2" BSP brass outlets so you can hook up a pump, hose. A matching hose kit is available if you need one. Fittings are required, Barb fttings, John Guest and Whale fittings are compatible with this tank.

How do I keep the water in my footwell tank clean during long trips?

Always fill the tank with clean water and rinse it out before you head off. Keep the cap sealed during travel to stop dust, insects or dirt from getting in. If the water hasn’t been used for a few days, drain and refill it when you get the chance. This helps keep it fresh for general use like washing dishes and rinsing gear.

Does this water tank need to be removed when not in use?

There’s no need to remove the tank after every trip, but it’s a good idea to empty and rinse it if your 4WD will be sitting for a while. Leave the cap open so it can dry out fully. This helps stop smells or build-up from forming while it's stored. In warmer weather, regular flushing helps keep things clean between uses.
