12V Smart TVs for Caravans
Shop 12V / 240V smart TVs for caravans, campers and RVs, with fast delivery Australia-wide.
A 12V smart TV runs straight off your battery and carries streaming apps built in, so you get Netflix, Stan, Prime Video and YouTube without a separate box or an inverter. Every set here takes 12V and 240V, so the same TV works off-grid and on a powered site. Screens run 22in to 32in with Full HD on the larger sizes.
What makes a 12V smart TV different
A smart TV built for a van does two jobs a home TV cannot. It takes 12V DC direct from your battery system, skipping the inverter and the conversion losses that come with it. And it holds a streaming platform on board, so there is no stick, no extra remote and no second power lead behind the screen.
The chassis matters as much as the apps. These sets are built for corrugations, with reinforced internals and a 100 x 100 VESA mount pattern that bolts to a proper caravan arm. Most carry an Australian digital tuner for free-to-air, and many add a built-in DVD player so you still have something to watch with no reception and no data.
Choosing the right size and features
- 22in to 24in suits most caravans and pop-tops. Widest model choice and easiest on a single-arm mount.
- 32in suits large vans and fifth wheelers. Check your arm's weight rating first.
- Full HD (1920 x 1080) is worth paying for at 27in and above. At 22in the difference from HD is hard to pick.
- Built-in DVD covers you when there is no signal and no mobile data.
- Bluetooth sends audio to a speaker or soundbar, the fastest upgrade to a small screen.
To work out runtime, divide the rated wattage by 12. A 36W TV draws 3A, so a 100Ah battery at 50% depth of discharge gives about 16 hours of viewing before other loads.
What else you might need
TV and radio antennas: a digital tuner is only as good as the antenna feeding it. Needed for free-to-air, not for streaming or DVD.
TV and audio cables: HDMI and 12V leads to run the screen back through a cabinet without leaving cable exposed.
Solar panels: 3A of TV draw is easy to replace during daylight, which keeps the battery where you want it overnight.
Batteries: usable capacity sets your viewing hours. Lithium gives more of its rated amp hours than lead acid.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an inverter to run a 12V smart TV?
No. A 12V TV takes battery voltage direct. An inverter only adds conversion losses. Every set here also accepts 240V for powered sites.
Will a 12V smart TV run on a 24V system?
Only where the listing states 24V. Many are 12V and 240V but not 24V, and feeding 24V into a 12V-only set will damage it. Check the input range, or fit a 24V to 12V converter.
Can I stream without Wi-Fi?
Streaming apps need a connection: Starlink, a mobile hotspot or park Wi-Fi. With no connection, use the built-in DVD player, a USB stick or free-to-air through an antenna.
What size TV fits a caravan?
Measure the clear wall first. 22in to 24in covers most vans, 32in suits large vans with a dedicated lounge wall. Match the arm's weight rating to the screen.
